Arrival by Air
Virgin
Blue, Macair and Qantas
fly to Townsville. The
airport is 5km northwest of the city centre at Garbutt.
Arrival by train
Trains
run north to Cairns ,
south to Brisbane , and
also west to Mt. Isa. The Brisbane to Cairns Sunlander service stops in Townsville four times a week, the trip from Brisbane to Townsville takes 24 hours. The Inlander travels from Townsville to Mount Isa twice a week. The train station and Queensland Rail Travel Centre are located in the CBD. 502 Flinders Street. (07 4772 8358).

Bus services
operate both north to
Cairns and south to Brisbane
and to Mt. Isa. and Tennant
Creek in the Northern
Territory.The Townsville transit centre is the agent fro most of the bus and touring companies. Daily services go to Brisbane, Rockhampton, Airlie Beach, Mission Beach, Cairns and Charters Towers. Corner Palmer and Plume Streets, Townsville (07 4721 3082).
Arrival by car
Townsville is easily
accessible via the
main coastal highway.
